Introducing Protean Research Notes

Protean Research Notes is the public log for provenance updates, candidate dispatches, and calibrated infrastructure notes from the Protean Labs runtime.

provenancepeptide discoverypublic record

Protean Research Notes is the native public log for Protean Labs. It exists to make the research surface easier to inspect: what the runtime is learning, which objects have been reviewed for public release, how provenance records move through the system, and where computational evidence stops.

The operating principle is simple: models propose; deterministic validators, failure memory, review gates, and human scientific review decide what advances. Computational rankings are prioritization signals. They do not prove biological activity, safety, efficacy, clinical readiness, patentability, or experimental validation.

What belongs here

  • Research notes that explain changes to the public discovery infrastructure.
  • Candidate dispatches when the relevant candidate or family record has already cleared publication review.
  • Provenance updates for Ledger records, public manifests, mirrors, and review gates.
  • Corrections when a prior public note needs sharper language or a better boundary statement.

What does not belong here

  • Credentials, private keys, salts, provider packets, internal scoring weights, private runtime state, or local filesystem paths.
  • Unreviewed assay claims or unpublished wet-lab material.
  • Hype, investment framing, or language that turns computational ranking into biological proof.

Why keep it native

The Protean public surface should remain canonical at protean.sh. A hosted newsletter can be convenient, but the research record needs to live beside the Ledger, public export artifacts, candidate dossiers, and documentation that already define the public boundary.

Email subscription is therefore a delivery layer, not the source of truth. The site remains the durable record. The inbox copy is only a notification that a new public note exists.
